Abstract

This study aims to explain the succession planning that is applied as a process of transfer of generations to family firms, explaining the picture of mentoring activities that are applied to produce 3rd generation successors, explaining the successor's character and competencies born in the succession process, understanding the steps of business professionalization the successor. know the achievements of business performance generated successor and see the linkage pattern of succession planning and business development with the efforts made successor to the longevity.The research was conducted at PT Dan Liris, a batik-producing family company that has been professionally managed by the third successor, and demonstrates sustainability. This study used case study with descriptive qualitative method. Data collection by conducting in-depth interviews with selected resource persons with consideration of having much information about PT. Dan Liris. The validity of the data is tested using triangulation by comparing the interviews of several informants or informants so that the valid answers are known. The results show PT Dan Liris has done a succession well. Beginning with succession planning by the founder but submission without going through the planning because the second successor died. Succession planning is shown by the founder's role; since the beginning of Mr. Handiman as a second successor has introduced his children early on to the business and corporate environment. This is to create passion and motivation in order to determine successor or successor. In addition to mentoring to organize children's education is adequate and shaping the character of both moral and performance so that menghik third successor Mrs. Michelle who believe, taqwa, honest and humble. Hard work, tenacious, tough, not easily give up and complete. In addition, successors (Bu Michelle) have Future Oriented competencies, communication skill, Managerial skills, social skills, Flexibility skill and emotional flexibility. Suksesor also professionalizes through the transfomation of structure, technology and people / HR, so as to produce a successful performance both business and harmony families assessed with the Balance Scorecard and make PT Dan Liris have sustainability/Longevity.
